FEBEV is the National Belgian Federation of slaughterhouses, cutting plants and wholesalers for pork, bovine, sheep and equidae. We have 130 members from the three regions within Belgium. They represent more than 90% of the national turnover of the red meat industry.
Our offices are located in the heart of Brussels, where the daily operations are managed by a team of specialists.
The food industry, and moreover the meat sector, is characterized by a great number of stakeholders, and FEBEV defends its interests in negotiating with authorities, animal rights activists, the political scene, etc. FEBEV channels information for its members and assists them when problems or questions arise.
Belgium is a recognized meat exporter. Belgian meat is exported to over 60 countries worldwide. FEBEV assists operators to implement export procedures in close collaboration with the FASFC (the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain). FEBEV also plays an active role in the search of new markets, in collaboration with governmental, specialized organizations such as the Belgian Meat Office (BMO), Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), and the Walloon Export Agency (AWEX). On a European level, FEBEV is a member of the European Livestock And Meat Trading Union (UECBV).
FEBEV maintains unique monitoring systems and a self-checking guide for the meat sector as a means of providing extra guarantees to meat clients worldwide.
